San Antonio senior photographer- Kelley Howe- Alice in Wonderland

I have always loved Disney’s Alice in Wonderland since I was a kid. I love how different and imaginative it is!  So- I decided, why not do my own Alice on wonderland shoot …with a spin!

Planning our Alice in Wonderland shoot-

It was so much fun watching our vision come together. I collaborated with my best friend Leah, who is also a photographer (www.wildplumphoto.com). She lives in Kearney NE, and was coming to visit, so it was perfect! We came up with lots of mood boards, inspiration for hair and makeup, location ideas, and began putting the outfits together piece by piece. Pinterest was definitely my friend for this! It was a LOT of hard work, and some things needed to be changed at the last minute, but I think it came together really well!

Thank you to my wonderful Kelley Howe photography models:

Jillian (Alice) Mckenzie (Cheshire) Krista (Hatter) Shawna (Queen) and Rebecca (White Rabbit). And of course the most amazing makeup artist in the world, Kim Ramirez- Makeup by Kim Ramirez. We could not have done it without her.

The day of the photoshoot:

The models arrived early so we  had time to fine-tune the outfits and get started on the time-intense and intricate hair and makeup. Of course Kim was able to follow our “Mood boards” for their makeup and each girll looked her part and turned out AMAZING. Thankfully Leah is a wiz with hair, (unlike me)  and was able to get all the models hair done. It was an all day event with hours of hair and makeup…But- there was lots of snacks, pizza, and good music too! I think we all had a lot of fun!

After we were all ready, we headed to Austin Texas, and shot at the most amazing quirky glass house. The light was not ideal, but we only had a rental time slot of an hour, and sometimes you just make it work! The models all were amazing and molded to their roles perfectly. After the glass house we headed to McKinley State park for some Blue Bonnets. I was so thankful to be able to take a break and do something creative and fun for my soul. I love how the shoot turned out, and getting to spend time with my models and best friend was the icing on the cake.

  • Update- this shoot has been featured in several publications in the Senior photography industry!
